President Samia Suluhu Hassan has just arrived in Nairobi, Kenya this evening to attend the World Bank International Development Association forum(IDA21) which starts on Monday.
Kenya is hosting the forum for African Heads of State and the World Bank to identify key priorities for financing in Africa and champion an ambitious financing replenishment of IDA resources.
The meeting’s outcomes will also support transformational development objectives for the Africa region.
It is expected that the host, Kenya’s President William Ruto will champion IDA21 replenishment with some proposed reforms.
He is of the view that the IDA deployment should be redesigned to prioritise the needs of the borrower over predetermined agendas set by donor countries and put further emphasis on a partnership approach.
The Forum will include closed and open sessions, some of which will be publicly broadcast on World Bank Live.
