Tanzania has introduced an online cashew trading system for 2024/2025 cshew trading season.
According to a statement by the Cashew Board of Tanzania Director General Francis Alfred, the online system will be through Merchantile Exchange(TMX) which will enable buyers to buy raw cashew nut online.
He noted that the Cashew nut Board of Tanzania would closely supervise collection,stacking and quality aspects of the raw cashew nuts in the warehouses.
“So we would like to assure buyers that that from 2024/2025 cashew nut season,we will ensure that raw cashew nut to be collected from warehouses by buyers will be of the same quality and quantity as described in the catalogue.”he noted
The Board therefore used the opportunity to invite all prospective buyers to come to Tanzani to procure quality raw cashew nut starting with the opening of the season in October this year.
The crop accounts for 15 percent of the country’s annual foreign exchange earnings.
Last season, over 244,680 tonnes of cashew nut were produced worth 454bn Tanzania shillings.
