Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to launch the country’s national strategy on cooking energy for the next 10 years. The strategy is for 2024-2034.
Tanzania’s government usually puts in place a national strategy to increase the use of clean cooking energy and reduce the use of charcoal and firewood.
The government’s 2024 goal is to ensure that all government institutions that serve at least 300 people, such as schools, hospitals, and prisons, switch to cleaner cooking technologies.
Last year, the clean cooking energy campaign was illuminated at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai, with the launch of the African Women Clean Cooking Support Programme (AWCCSP).
The initiative was championed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
