The WorldBank  has appointed Tanzania’s  Maryam Salim as Country Director for Ethiopia,Sudan,South Sudan and Eritrea.

Her appointment is effective 1st July this year. She will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

She joined the Bank in 1998 as a young professional and has since held various positions in OPSC,Office of the Managing Director and multiple regions,including Country Manager for Albania in Europe and Central Asia.Her most recent assignment was country Manager for Cambodia in East Asia and Pacific Region.

In her new position, among other issues, her top priorities will be to lead the strategic dialogue to shape and implement operational engagements in line with the Bank’s focus on speed,scale and impact in Ethiopia,Sudan,Southern Sudan, and Eritrea,working closely with development partners and diverse stakeholders.

Ms. Salim has more than 23 years of experience in the World Bank .

She holds a master’s degree in International Economics and Relations from Johns Hopkins University, and a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University.
